Un Best Of de Roy ORBISON
Sony BMG vient de sortir une compilation Best Of consacrée au regretté Roy Orbison. Elle contient pas moins de quatre disques avec des inédits et des raretés. La compilation est sortie ce 24 novembre 2008. Elle s’intitule “The Soul Of Rock And Roll”. Sa production a été supervisée par Barbara Orbison, veuve de Roy. Pas moins de 107 morceaux s’y retrouvent. Parmi eux, des démos, des enregistrements live et même douze titres inédits.
Le premier disque est consacré aux débuts de la carrière de Roy Orbison. Il couvre donc les années 50. Le second CD est attaché aux années 60 avec notamment le fameux “Oh, Pretty Woman”.
Le troisième disque est consacré à des enregistrements live. La plupart datent des années 60, mais il y a aussi “Land of 1000 Dances” datant de 1972 et “That Lovin’ You Feelin’ Again”, un duo avec Emmylou Harris lors des Grammys de 1981.
La quatrième rondelle s’occupe des années 80. On y trouve des nombreuses collaborations de Orbison avec des stars du rock. Parmi elles, une chanson réunissant, autour de Roy, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis et Carl Perkins. Son passage par les Traveling Wilburys, au sein duquel il y avait aussi Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne et Tom Petty, n’a pas été oublié.
